This is my annual Christmas post in which I share a bit about my Christian faith. I don’t apologize for it for two main reasons. One, because I truly believe it is the way to live the most abundant life. I tried others and they fall far short. And two, because to not share my faith would be the most hypocritical act of all. If reading this post would offend you, then stop here and find something else to read. But I challenge you to read it anyway. You might not be as offended as you think. I’ll return to posting the usual content in the next post.
Unless you live as a hermit, we all encounter sad, frustrated, lonely, anxious, hopeless, fearful, weary, angry, sick, hurting people every day. For some, their circumstances are out of their control. For others, the result of poor decision making. Regardless, they can all be reached by a gift of kindness.
Kindness isn’t expensive but it’s priceless—a helping hand, a few minutes of time, a listening ear, a meal, even a smile can change someone’s day. The forms of kindness are as many and varied as there are people. Kindness isn’t only a gift for the receiver, it also blesses the giver, sometimes more than the receiver.
Kindness is different than charity. Acts of charity can be done materially, impersonally. Acts of kindness aren’t so—they require an investment of the person who is giving. It’s the heart of the giver connecting with the heart of the receiver that gives the act its power and conveys life and hope. Hardened hearts can be softened by kindness. Charity is often done only if it benefits the giver. Pure kindness is unconditional—it expects nothing in return.
So as you go about your life this Christmas season, I encourage you to keep an eye out for people around you to whom you can offer a gift of kindness personalized to their need. Be intentional, be deliberate. Leave time in your agenda, change in your wallet, and space in your heart for someone else’s story. If you do, you will not only be blessed in your giving, you will spread peace on earth, goodwill toward men.
For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:3-7

I sold our sailboat 5 yrs ago but still enjoy your $tingy emails, especially at Christmas. God bless you for your unashamed witness to God’s mercy, love and grace!
Nice sentiment. I have no problem with Christians who don’t spread hate towards those who are different, e.g. LGBTQ+. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing the good news!
This is God’s Universe, Gods world…he’s got this! The God of love and life and redemption is going to make everything alright. He will untie the knots.
So much suffering, pain, oppression, persecution death violence and confusion in our country and world.
So many addictions….
the violence and waste and hate in the middle east, Russia Iran Africa, Korea, Pakistan India, China and us all fighting killing supplying arms.
the spread of radical Islam across the globe is horrific.
It’s enough to make us weep and despair.
Just what Satan wants us to do!
Jesus save us! Dear God enlighten us. Jesus convert our minds. Dear God and father clear our perceptions. Lead us to you!

Have a wonderful New Year!
Could you give me some direction on where to find electrical diagrams for an 85 C-22 and where to find new (replacement) panel with switches / breakers?
Dear Stingy,
Merry Christmas to you and yours. May you find joy and peace throughout the season and all year through.
We still have our Cat 22 and enjoy spending quiet time on board.

Merry Christmas
Thank you for your Christmas message. That is one of my favorite verses. Oh how we desire for others to seek Him and receive the gift too.
…but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:3-7
Thank you for this thought provoking post, even as a practicing Christian I found it rewarding.
